Harris Ranch Beef Company has a personal stake in the quality of the environment. That’s why we proudly share the results of a study published recently in the journal Agricultural Systems entitled Environmental Footprints of Beef Cattle Production in the United States.
The report documents the most comprehensive beef cattle lifecycle assessment ever completed. With research conducted by the USDA’s Agricultural Research Service and The Beef Checkoff, the assessment was designed to scientifically quantify the sustainability of U.S. beef production. The results show widely accepted measures related to beef cattle’s impact in the U.S. are often overestimated.
Napa and Sonoma Counties are rebuilding lives, homes and businesses after wild fires tore through their communities the week of October 8th. This part of California is renowned for the wine and foods they produce, and they are near and dear to our hearts at Harris Ranch.
For the first time, chefs and restaurants on the West Coast can offer locally produced Certified Angus Beef®. The brand is now proudly offered by Harris Ranch, a family-owned company with a 50-year history of farming and ranching in California’s fertile Central Valley. Attendees of the Western Foodservice & Hospitality Expo in Los Angeles will be able to taste Certified Angus Beef from Harris Ranch at booth 1907 from August 27-29 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
This summer California travelers may pick up Beef to Go at Harris Ranch, and be ready to grill the ultimate barbecue at their destination. For the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, two 14 oz. USDA choice Harris Ranch Ribeye steaks will cost just $20.
As the temperature warms, many women are sporting their “culottes”- a short, wide-legged pant. However, the grill also beckons for “coulottes”—a cut of steak from the top of the top sirloin and shaped like a tri-tip steak. Harris Ranch Coulotte roasts or steaks are an affordable cut that can be tender when grilled properly, and full of great flavor. They are a wallet-friendly option for upcoming spring celebrations like Mother’s Day and graduations.
Creativity and an original recipe using Harris Ranch Beef will help inspire more creativity for Sonoma County residents involved with the Becoming Independent Art Program. In June, Harris Ranch Beef and G&G Supermarket in Santa Rosa hosted the 2nd Annual Cooking for a Cause Grilling Challenge.
As the November 2015 Global Climate Change Conference COP21 concluded in Paris, 196 countries reached agreement on the reduction of fossil fuel use and emissions in the production and consumption of energy, even to the extent of potentially phasing out fossil fuels out entirely.
Fall weekends are a great time to gather with friends and family and root for your favorite football team. Whether the celebration takes you to a little league field, a professional stadium, or the neighbor’s living room, a crowd-pleasing platter of steak fajitas can make it a sizzling celebration. One of the secrets to great beef is meticulous attention to feeding practices. Harris Ranch is one of just a few producers in the country that produces beef exclusively from cattle fed in their own feedlot.
Tossing a steak on the grill is as American as our favorite sport. Even with higher prices, when Americans choose to splurge for summer barbecues, a thick juicy steak is still the protein of choice. When home cooks are looking to impress a hungry crowd, but also want to watch their budget, a baseball cut top sirloin steak from Harris Ranch is a winning strategy.
